WET Systems
From its inception human society has been plagued by garbage. We have burned it,
sunk it and buried it. We have even renamed it: municipal solid waste or MSW.
As time has passed it has become painfully obvious that the way in which we deal
with MSW is both environmentally and economically ill advised. Conventional landfills
are filling up faster than new ones can be sited. Many large cities have to send
their MSW to distant locations as demonstrated by the “garbage barge.” Old landfills
harbor inherent public health risks and incinerators put unwanted pollutants into the
very air we breathe. These conventional methods are economically costly as well, and
although recycling has been emphasized, it lacks the level of public participation
necessary to make up for the millions of dollars in materials that are never recovered.
It is in this context that WET Systems is proud to announce the development of Waste
Elutriation Technology, the patented WET System. The WET System is an environmentally
friendly and economically sound method to deliver MSW from the source to the manufacturing
arena. Briefly, the WET System converts the most common component of MSW, cellulose-based
material into a variety of useful, marketable materials, including clean-burning, renewable
fuel cubes.

The WET System sterilizes all the incoming MSW through a proprietary
method that breaks down the organics and reduces them to a cellulose-based
material, and then separates the cellulose-based material from the other materials.
Cellulose-based material is the primary component of MSW and the most versatile and
valuable. It resembles a fluffy or pulpy substance and is used to manufacture clean
burning renewable fuel cubes (an excellent alternative to fossil fuel), composite
lumber, insulation and potting soil. The manufacturing process is odor free and the
products are safe and non-toxic. The remaining MSW components, the familiar metals,
glass and plastics, are recycled through improved collection methods, and will no
longer require pre-sorting.
How it Works
A WET System facility resembles a modern manufacturing plant and does not require space
age equipment. The centerpiece is the patented elutriator vessel, which is used in
conjunction with commonly found industrial equipment, in a carefully sequenced series
of steps. Each facility can be sized according to the amount of MSW handled and the end
product desired, and placed in satellite locations enabling neighborhoods to be responsible
for their own MSW management. Raw materials are unloaded quickly and efficiently and processed
immediately using a “just in time” management approach. Materials leaving the facility are
useable products shipped out via conventional common carriers. The facilities are virtually odor free.
